(NY Area) Acquisitions Editor-Stats – Prestigious scientific publisher of books, journals, and electronic media today is seeking to fill the position of an Acquisitions Editor in Statistics.
The Statistics Editor will increase company profitability via book/journal acquisitions that are consistent with the company's reputation as a high-quality, high-level publisher. They will have extensive author contact, review proposals, negotiate contracts, prepare manuscripts for production and manage promotional planning. They will monitor sales, budget and create long-term plans for the growth and development of the program.
Job Requirements
-Great contacts within academic community
-Either Ph.D. in Statistics or specific experience in publishing of area
-Experience in STM publishing, university press, or higher-level college text
- Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet applications and presentation software
- Excellent communication skills
- Regular business travel is required
