(NY Area) Acquisitions Editor-Psychology – Prestigious scientific publisher of books, journals, and electronic media today is seeking to fill the position of an Acquisitions Editor in Learning & Development.
The Learning & Development Editor will increase company profitability via book/journal acquisitions that are consistent with the company's reputation as a high-quality, high-level publisher. They will have extensive author contact, review proposals, negotiate contracts, prepare manuscripts for production and manage promotional planning. They will monitor sales, budget and create long-term plans for the growth and development of the program.
Job Requirements
-Great contacts within academic community
-Either Ph.D. in Educational study or specific experience in publishing of area
-Experience in STM publishing, university press, or higher-level college text
- Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet applications and presentation software
- Excellent communication skills
- Regular business travel is required
