Deputy Content Editor

(New York, NY) Publication seeking a Deputy Content Editor to join it’s Digital Lab team. The team consists of journalists, privacy experts, product testers, technologists and policy analysts dedicated to data privacy and security issues facing consumers, as well as broader topics of fair market competition, transparency, and consumer choice. This role will combine technology-based experiments with classic journalism to uncover how companies may affect privacy, health, work lives, and intellectual freedom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with content stakeholders to develop content across all company platforms

  • Work with technology partners to design product testing protocols, generating real world stories from results and data analysis

  • Play a strategic role in shaping, executing, and monitoring content ideas that bridge multiple focus areas and stakeholders

  • Develop sources and deep expertise about important digital technologies affecting privacy, security, and marketplace fairness

  • In addition to longer investigations, quickly report on breaking or emerging news, providing key insights for consumers

  • Build great working relationships with testers, policy experts, survey managers, fact checkers, and other key resources

Qualifications

  • 10 years experience producing compelling editorial work

  • Attention to detail and the ability to write clearly and quickly

  • Curiosity about technology and a comfort with data

  • Desire to participate in original research and a grasp of what it takes to prove or disprove a hypothesis
