Scientific Director

(NYC or Remote) Medical company seeking a new scientific director specializing in hematology and oncology. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in the promotional medical education industry and will have a clear understanding of content production. This role is responsible for developing content that supports therapeutic areas & product positioning of pharmaceutical, biotech & medical device clients.  The Scientific Director will demonstrate excellent clinically oriented communication skills, and be able to quickly analyze and assimilate new clinical markets, therapeutic areas, and product information.


Responsibilities

  • Write and develop promotional materials, while providing strategic alignment, ensuring medical accuracy, and taking responsibility for the scientific content in a variety of projects,

  • Anticipate client’s scientific content needs and proactively work to ensure client satisfaction. 

  • Work with account and project teams to coordinate resources to ensure appropriate scientific support and communication, maintaining scientific integrity of content during project implementation.  

  • Develop scientific basis for strategically focused communication plans to support product marketing goals and objectives.

  • Use therapeutic expertise and commercial awareness to support proposal development and understanding across the account team.

  • Work with the business development team to identify and develop business opportunities, developing and presenting scientific rationale for proposals credibly and insightfully.

  • Maintain familiarity with FDA, AMA, and PhRMA Guidelines as they pertain to the core business and product legalities.

  • Develop and maintain contacts and access to key decision makers from the various pharmaceutical clients.


Position Requirements

  • PhD in scientific field, PharmD, or MD/DO.

  • 5+ years’ experience in medical communications agency.

  • Understanding and competency in hematology and oncology therapeutic areas  

  • Understanding of a variety of therapeutic categories, as required.  Ability to learn quickly.
