VP/SVP, Production
(NYC/Hybrid) Leading NYC Trade Book Publisher seeking a VP/SVP, Production. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational aspects of the company's production, inventory management, and distribution processes. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership, and expertise in supply chain management and production operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of published materials.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Develop and execute a comprehensive production strategy that aligns with the company's goals, optimizing efficiency and reducing costs
Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and vendors to streamline the production plans and reduce lead times.
Implement best practices in procurement, shipping, and logistics to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
Lead the production process, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality books while maintaining production standards.
Coordinate with production teams, printers, and vendors to resolve issues and improve workflows.
Partner with Inventory/Supply chain to develop and refine distribution strategies that ensure prompt and cost-efficient delivery of books to various distribution channels, retailers, and consumers.
Implement quality control measures at various stages of production to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry standards.
Implement systems to track and manage production processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including inventory/demand planning, sales, marketing, editorial, finance, and IT, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills Include:
Undergraduate degree in Operations Management or Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience; Advanced degree is a plus.
Extensive experience, at least 15 years in operations, production, and inventory management, preferably within the publishing or related industries.
Experience with production technologies
Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-departmental teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Knowledge of publishing industry best practices and emerging trends in corporate communications and marketing.
