Associate Medical Director

(Remote) This Associate Medical Director will help define company’s clients brand strategies, develop content that effectively pulls through the brand strategy, and recommend appropriate tactical approaches for achieving the brand’s strategic objectives. He or she is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the creation of strategic clinical content for pharmaceutical and health care marketing and communications materials which may be delivered through a variety of print and electronic media outlets, including scientific platforms, slide decks, video scripts, interactive PDFs, eLearning, etc.

Responsibilities Include:

·         The Associate Medical Director will interface with client groups and key opinion leaders, daily supporting assigned accounts by providing clinical expertise and leadership.

·         Depending on account size and needs, this Director may serve as the lead clinical team member or work in collaboration with other clinical team members, to drive the account or projects within the account.

·         Actively participates with team on strategic planning, ranging from crafting a brand’s strategic imperatives and scientific pillars to engaging with the internal or external team to develop a tactical plan that will effectively execute on a brand’s aligned upon strategy.

·         Works with the account team and other members of the clinical team to develop a strong client partnership and build the client’s confidence in company’s ability to activate their science in a meaningful and effective way.

·         Effectively leads the clinical portions of client meetings, providing strategic guidance and direction and demonstrating full command of the therapeutic area.

·         Confidently engages with key opinion leaders and other client groups of interest.

·         Exhibits a professional image and demeanor, demonstrating adaptability and a dedication to exceptional client service, assisting with resolution of concerns related to assigned areas.

·         Partners with creative services to develop highly visual and engaging materials that maintain a high level of scientific accuracy and achieve our client’s strategic objectives.

·         May participate in business development engagements related to areas of therapeutic expertise, providing strategic and clinical insight and participating in pitches.

·         Plans, develops, and writes materials as assigned, creating content aligned with company’s client’s strategic imperatives.

·         References and annotates all content at initial stages of development, updating as appropriate throughout the project life to ensure accurate and clear delivery of materials for internal and client teams.

·         Secures references as needed through the appropriate channels to provide full support of all claims within a deliverable and provides clean delivery of reference packets for internal and client teams.

·         Collaborates with internal team members to ensure smooth routing and adherence to timelines and partners with internal team providing onsite support at key client meetings or events.

·         Properly tracks and retains electronic versions of documentation from draft through final submission.

·         Edits and revises own work and collaborates to resolve errors or concerns, saving time in editorial review process and maintains a current knowledge of industry trends and standards and key medical topics and terminology in order to serve as a creditable resource to internal and client teams.

·         Takes a proactive solutions-oriented approach into all tasks

Qualifications/Experience/Skills Include:

·         Advanced medical or scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred. Undergraduate degree in related discipline with applicable combination of education and experience may be considered.

·         Three plus (3+) years of progressive clinical content development and writing experience, preferably at a Sr Medical Writer or Associate Medical Director level with focus in a health care marketing or communications agency setting.

·         Expert writing and editorial skills with a thorough knowledge of AMA style and medical terminology expertise.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

·         Proven organizational and timeline prioritization skills; scheduling flexibility to accommodate work volumes and the ability to manage multiple assignments and a keen attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

·         Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team, whenever appropriate.

·         Occasional overnight business travel will be required

Salary: $120K - $130K range
