Medical Director

(Remote)  The Medical Director will help to define company’s clients brand strategies, develop content that effectively pulls through the brand strategy, and recommends appropriate tactical approaches for achieving the brand’s strategic objectives. He or she is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the creation of strategic clinical content for pharmaceutical and health care marketing and communications materials which may be delivered through a variety of print and electronic media outlets, including scientific platforms, slide decks, video scripts, interactive PDFs, eLearning, etc.

Responsibilities Include:

·         This Medical Director will interface with client groups and key opinion leaders, daily supporting assigned accounts by providing clinical expertise and leadership. As a more senior member of the clinical team, the position will mentor and train colleagues, and may provide daily functional guidance to others with regard to content development.

·         Assumes full leadership of clinical aspects during strategic planning and project meetings with internal and client teams, gathering information and assessing client expectations on assigned initiatives.

·         Takes ownership of client relationship, partnering with account teams to build confidence in company’s service offerings; exhibits a professional image and demeanor, demonstrating adaptability and a dedication to exceptional client service, assisting with resolution of concerns related to assigned areas.

·         Actively participates with team on strategic planning, ranging from crafting a brand’s strategic imperatives and scientific pillars to engaging with the internal or external team to develop a tactical plan that will effectively execute on a brand’s aligned upon strategy.

·         Collaborates with internal and client parties to help identify creative solutions, and to constantly improve the level of fulfillment of client vision.

·         Contributes to timeline and resource planning to meet deliverable milestones.

·         Provides mentorship and supervision to 1-2 medical writers, delegating work, ensuring development of quality work product, and participating in their overall growth plan.

·         Plans, develops, writes and edits materials as assigned.

·         References and annotates all content at initial stages of development, updating as appropriate throughout the project life to ensure accurate and clear delivery of materials for internal and client teams.

·         Secures references as needed through the appropriate channels to provide full support of all claims within a deliverable and provides clean delivery of reference packets for internal and client teams.

·         Collaborates with internal team members to ensure smooth routing and adherence to timelines.

·         Partners with creative services to develop highly visual and engaging materials that maintain a high level of scientific accuracy and achieve company’s client’s strategic objectives.

·         Participates in business development engagements related to areas of therapeutic expertise, providing strategic and clinical insight and participating in pitches.

·         Partners with internal team and provides onsite support at key client meetings or events and properly tracks and retains electronic versions of documentation from draft through final submission.

·         Edits and revises own work and collaborates to resolve errors or concerns, saving time in editorial review process.

·         Maintains a current knowledge of industry trends and standards and key medical topics and terminology in order to serve as a creditable resource to internal and client teams.

·         Takes a proactive solutions-oriented approach into all tasks.

 

Qualifications/Experience/Skills Include:

·         Advanced degree in pharmacy, nursing or biosciences preferred. Undergraduate degree in related discipline with applicable combination of education and experience may be considered.

·         Three to five years of progressive clinical content development and writing experience, preferably at an Associate Medical Director or Medical Director level with strategic focus in a health care marketing agency setting.

·         Expert writing and editorial skills with a high level of AMA style and medical terminology expertise.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint with proven organizational and timeline prioritization skills; scheduling flexibility to accommodate work volumes and the ability to manage multiple assignments.

·         Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team, whenever appropriate and a keen attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

·         Frequent overnight business travel will be required (approximately 25 to 30%)

Salary: $130K - $140K range
